How to Make Blueberry Puree for Baby

By Raz Parker

As a parent, introducing your little one to solid foods is an exciting and important milestone.

While store-bought baby food may seem like a convenient option, making homemade purees using fresh fruits and vegetables can provide your baby with essential nutrients while allowing you to control the ingredients and quality of their food.

Blueberries are a delicious and nutritious option for babies, containing antioxidants and vitamins necessary for growth and development. Making homemade blueberry puree is easy and can be done in just a few simple steps.

Tips for Making Strawberry Puree:

  • Proper baby food storage is crucial to maintain freshness and safety for later use. Consider using 4-ounce mason jars for fridge storage, but be mindful not to keep them in the fridge for more than 4-5 days.

  • For freezer storage, I recommend using sealed baggies that can be laid flat for space efficiency. This method can keep the baby’s food fresh for up to 3 months. Additionally, child-safe airtight containers are suitable for both fridge and freezer storage.

  • Remember that the blueberry baby food may seem thin initially, but it will thicken as it chills. To achieve the desired consistency, stir the food well before serving.
  • While it’s not required, removing the pulp from the blueberry baby food can create a smoother texture that may suit your child’s palate.
  • Instead of water, you can opt for formula or breast milk as a liquid base for the blueberry puree.
