With unlimited options available for wedding dresses, celebrities are often privileged to select any gown that captures their imagination, thanks to their substantial incomes. It’s a well-established fact that celebrities have invested considerable sums in their wedding attire, a prerogative that befits their status. Below, you’ll find a glimpse of some of the most extravagant celebrity wedding dresses, showcasing their opulence and individual style.

Amal Clooney: $380,000

There was no limited budget when it came to George Clooney and his bride. They spent an average of $4.6 million on their wedding overall. Amal’s dress was an off-the-shoulder, lace Oscar de la Renta ensemble which cost her $380,000. The gown was temporarily featured in an Oscar de la Renta exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts because it was the last wedding dress the designer created before his death. The gown’s value is pretty priceless, despite the high price tag.

Serena Williams: $3.5 million

The most expensive wedding dress on this list was purchased by Serena Williams in 2017. The Alexander McQueen dress was designed by Sarah Burton, and it was complete with a sweetheart necklace and cascading cape. This wasn’t even Serena’s only look, she happened to change another two times during the course of the night. 

Queen Elizabeth: $1.6 million

For her wedding to Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth spent $1.6 million on  a Duchesse satin, long-sleeve wedding gown with allover crystal and pearl appliques, and a floral embroidery. The designer, Normal Hartnell, was said to have been inspired by the painting “Primavera” by Botticelli. The Queen paid $42,000 for her dress in 1947, which is an average of about $1.6 million today. 

Chiara Ferragni: $420,000

The Italian blogger and designer married rapper Federico Leonardo Lucia in 2018, and the celebration took place in Sicily. Ferragni worked with Dior’s director, Maria Grazia Chiuri in order to design two couture dresses. This process took six-months and because Chiara wanted to keep the ceremony simple, she took the opportunity to have a lace bodice with a tulle skirt. During the reception, Ferragni changed into a cream tulle gown with a corset top. This was embroidered with images of hearts and lions with lyrics from Leonardo’s song written about her over it. 

Victoria Swarovski: $1 million

Victoria, heiress to the multi-billion dollar Swarovski company, had a custom dress designed by Michael Cinco and it landed at approximately $1 million. The dress featured 500,000 crystals which in total, weighed about 100 pounds. The jewelry heiress wore a 26-foot long veil which completed the princess look completely. 

Meghan Markle: $422,000

The Royal Wedding which took place in 2018 was an international splash and known to be one of the most iconic Royal weddings of all time. Meghan wore a custom Givenchy gown which was designed by Clare Waight Keller and it featured an elegant boat neck with minimal design. Later in the day, Meghan changed into a halter-neck which was designed by Stella McCarthy. The Givenchy dress was priced at an estimate of $265,000 and the Stella McCarthy dress was at $157,000, totalling the dresses to $422,000. 

Kim Kardashian: $500,000

It is no surprise that Kim Kardashian makes it on the list of most expensive celebrity wedding dresses. In 2014, when Kim and Kayne got married, she had a custom couture Givenchy dress which featured a trumpet silhouette and long sleeves. After the ceremony, she later changed into a mini dress which was designed by Olivier Rousteing, a creative director for Balmain. 

Kate Middleton: $434,000

Kate’s wedding look is one that was highly spoken about, and continues to be discussed to this day. The dress was a true fit for a royal and was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. It had handmade lace and featured a full skirt and a very dramatic eight-foot trail. 

Salma Hayek: £434,000

In April 2009, Salma married Francois-Henri Pinault who is the CEO of the Kering group. They married in Venice, Italy and Salma’s Balenciaga dress, which was designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere, had a intricately detailed deep V-neck that flowed into a full-body skirt. The dress cost $434,000 and they also had an A-list reception. It definitely wasn’t cheap for them to rent out the oldest opera house in Europe!
