One of the best pregnancy announcements of all time was when Rihanna walked out with her boyfriend during the Super Bowl halftime and whipped open her jacket to reveal her baby bump. Fans were unsure if she was actually pregnant as the Super Bowl was just nine months after the birth of her first child.
Hilary Duff
Hilary has three children, Luca Cruz, 2012, Banks Violet, 2018, Mae James, 2021, so she is well aware of the best way to announce her pregnancies. In 2020, when she was pregnant with Mae James, she took to Instagram and posted her and her husband, Matthew Koma, with Matthew rubbing her baby bump. The caption read, “We are growing!! Mostly me…”
Rose Leslie
Rose Leslie and her husband Kit Harrington decided to take to Make Magazine to have a pregnancy announcement photoshoot. A black and white photo was the feature picture and it showed a smiling Leslie in a maxi dress showing off her bump. Leslie later told the New York Post, “I am thrilled to be expecting, and I can’t wait to meet the new member of our family.”
Robert Downey Jr
Even though a lot of celebrities like to go above and beyond with their pregnancy announcements, and like to make a big deal out of it, others prefer to continue keeping it pretty low-key. Robert Downey Jr. announced his wife’s pregnancy in 2014 with a blunt tweet that stated, “Yo. Susan. Me. Baby. Girl. November. Scorpio?” It was very straight to the point and quite comical.
Anne Hathaway
To announce her pregnancy, Anne took to Instagram, it was simple but put the message across. She had created a lovely black and white selfie which showed off her bump. The caption read, “It’s not for the movie…#2. All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love.”
Alanis Morissette
A simple social media post just wasn’t enough for Alanis Morissette. She went above and beyond for the announcement of her second child. The singer created a whole animated music video with a brand new song. The best thing ever is that it was all a secret for her husband.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi made the decision to announce the pregnancy with her ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik during a Zoom call with Jimmy Fallon for his show “Tonight Show.” Even though her pregnancy had already been leaked by Us Weekly, which stated, “Gigi is pregnant and she and Zayn are so in love. She’s always wanted to start a family with Zayn.” Gigi was disappointed about this, but was over the moon to officially announce the pregnancy herself.
Ellie Kemper
It seems that Gigi Hadid wasn’t the only celebrity to announce their pregnancy with Jimmy Fallon, but Ellie Kemper also did the same. Ellie said on the show, “I have big news – I’m pregnant!” The crowd let out a huge cheer while Jimmy leaned over to Ellie’s stomach and said, “Hi, baby! Hi!”
Cardi B
Cardi B really stole the show as she decided to announce her pregnancy on the red carpet at the BET awards. There was then a perfectly timed Instagram post that featured an incredible shot of Cardi B with her bump in a white plaster cast. The caption simply read, “#2!”
Beyonce
This surprise bump reveal was one that got everyone super excited. To announce her first pregnancy in 2011, Beyonce appeared on stage at the VMA’s to perform, and after her performance of “Love on Top”, she unbuttoned her blazer to reveal and rub her baby bump. Jay-Z looked really proud of his wife and Beyonce later said, “I put a lot of thought into how I wanted to unveil it. It was important to me that I was able to do it myself. I was extremely nervous. I decided to say nothing and proudly show my baby bump. I felt it was more powerful to see the love and enthusiasm as opposed to saying anything.”
