An unnamed pastor staged a modern-day reenactment of the tale of Daniel and the Lion’s Den to prove his divine protection. In a video that went viral recently, the holy man locked himself in a cage full of lions to show “nothing can happen to a man of God.”
The Crowd Was Shocked
Dressed in a bright blue suit, the man was filmed at an unknown destination in Nigeria and drew a huge crowd both in person and around the globe through his brave actions. The man even dared to put his hand across the mouth of one lion, much to everyone’s despair.
Growling Lions
Viewers of the video could see the lions prowling and hear them growling in what some people said was an act of insanity rather than courage as his congregation watched on as he continued to stroke the lions that seemingly were not put out by a stranger in their den.
The Story of Daniel
It was said that the man was trying to reenact a famous bible story. Daniel was a Jewish prophet who was taken captive in Babylon along with many other Israelites. He quickly rose to prominence in the Babylonian court due to his wisdom and intelligence. Daniel knew that this decree was wrong, and he refused to obey it. He continued to pray to God three times a day, just as he had always done. When the king found out that Daniel had disobeyed his decree, he was furious. He had Daniel thrown into the lion’s den, but the lions did not harm him. God had protected Daniel because he was faithful to him.
A Story of Faith and Courage
The next morning, the king rushed to the lion’s den to see if Daniel was still alive. He called out to Daniel, and Daniel answered him. The king was overjoyed to see that Daniel was safe. He had Daniel pulled out of the lion’s den, and he then ordered that all those who had accused Daniel be thrown into the lion’s den instead. The story of Daniel in the lion’s den is a story of faith and courage. It is a story that teaches us that God is always with us, even in the darkest of times. It also teaches us that we should never be afraid to stand up for what is right, even if it means facing persecution.
People Were Shocked at His Intent
Skeptics watched on sand commented that, “The only thing you are doing is showing that you have achieved no fear based on your belief that God will protect you.” Another person said, “How many snake handlers have died doing basically the same thing? The only thing this proves is that he is foolish.” Paying close attention to the bible, one clever person pointed out “ “Daniel didn’t volunteer to go into the den of lions. He was cast into the den of lions because he continued to pray to God despite the new law encouraged by his enemies.”
Some People Were Not Convinced
Watching the video, many people were not convinced by the pastor’s bravery. One person observed, “Those are tamed cubs. I’d sure like to see him doing that with untamed tigers, bears, or lions.” Another said, “Those are not lions; they are lion cubs. Big difference.” In a challenge, one viewer said, “They should have taken him to the wild lions at the Kenyan park; those lions were given drugs.”
The Man Received Invites from World Leaders
With the video reaching worldwide audiences, one Kenyan parliament member, Ronald Karauri, invited the man to come to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, the most popular and iconic wildlife reserve in Africa. The invite was for the pastor to reenact his stunt with wild lions as opposed to those who have been tamed somewhat. Karauri said, “I volunteer to take him to the Maasai Mara, please, all expenses paid.”
There Was a Huge Revelation
In the midst of the world being stunned by such bravery, it was revealed that the pastor was telling a little white lie. In fact, the man was not a pastor in Nigeria but a zookeeper in Somalia. It was also revealed that the man was called Mohamed Abdirahman Mohamed, who has been a zookeeper in Mogadishu, Somalia, for over eight years. His love of theater and being the center of attention is what led to the video being filmed, as is seen from other videos that have emerged online.
People Couldn’t Help but Smile
While the “pastor” turned out to be somewhat of a fraud, he nevertheless made a brave decision to pose with his hands in the mouth of a lion. We dare say it was an act of courage to deceive people in the way that he did, too!
