Nine Months of Nausea: These Celebrity Moms Didn’t Love Pregnancy

By Krystal Brown

Pregnancy can be a blessing, or it can be something that is really troublesome for some women. If you had a bad pregnancy, you might feel a bit guilty, and wonder why so many women say that they had the most wonderful experience. However, no matter how good they can make their lives look, there are some celebrity moms that really didn’t like being pregnant.

Melissa Joan Hart

Melissa has three beautiful boy baby’s, but she took the time to admit that carrying them all wasn’t the most joyous occasion. Melissa told OK magazine, “I hated it. I just hated it. It is so uncomfortable, and you just feel so out of sorts. I love being a mom, but I don’t like being pregnant.”

Kelly Clarkson has two children, and during an interview in 2016, she stated that her pregnancies weren’t all wonderful. “It’s horrible. Nothing is beautiful; nothing is magical. Whatever-you’re that person that gets that pregnancy, good for you. But I will remind my children every day of their lives what I went through.”

Amy suffered from a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum, which causes extreme vomiting, nausea and weight loss. She really struggled during her pregnancy and told Seth Meyers on his late-night show, “It’s been pretty tough. I didn’t realize pregnancies could be such a bummer… I threw up a bunch of times on my way, but worth it, love you guys so much. I’m lucky though-I have good healthcare and can get an IV.”

Anne told Entertainment Tonight that, “It’s not always a straight line. There is a one-sided narrative to this, and of course it’s wonderful that we celebrate the happy moment when it’s ready to share. I think there is a silence around the moments before that they are not all happy, and in fact a lot of them are quite painful. I think that pain is that these women feel like we’re the only ones going through it.”

“It’s really, really hard being pregnant — I’m not gonna lie. To all the women out there who just pop out babies like it’s nothing, God bless you guys, ’cause oh my God, it is just a lot.”

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy tweeted after the birth of her son, Miles, “I can confirm postpartum life is 90% better when you don’t rip to your butthole. Baby boy: 1 point. Luna: 0.”

Kim Kardashian

“For me, pregnancy is the worst experience of my life! … I don’t enjoy one moment of it, and I don’t understand people who enjoy it. My mom and Kourtney clearly did! More power to them but I just don’t relate!”

Molly Sims

Yet another mom who really struggled during her pregnancy. Molly said during her third pregnancy, “I’ve been crazy sick. I wake up in the morning, I feel like I wanna vomit. I have lunch and wanna vomit, and wanna vomit at dinner… and then when I go to bed, I still want to vomit. I have vomited at grocery stores, I have vomited in my house, I have gagged on my toothpaste.”

“I had a hard time being pregnant. I mean, it’s obviously beyond worth it. But I was very nauseous and sick for both. And my babies were huge. So it was kind of not that comfortable.”

Khloe Kardashian

Khloe struggled with her emotional thoughts a lot during her pregnancy with baby True. She went on to say, “At the beginning, the first trimester is the worst, and no one knows you’re pregnant yet, and you feel the most uncomfortable. I think once people know you’re pregnant, you get all the excuses. Hopefully, I look pregnant, not just fat. It’s hard for me to breathe right now.”

Jessie James Decker

Jessie explains that each of her three pregnancies were all different. She has said that the first pregnancy was the most “brutal” because of the “horrible morning sickness”. However, she did state that her second pregnancy went much better.

Zoe Saldana

In 2015, the actress said that, “In some cases more than others, your body experiences a kind of trauma through childbirth that is difficult to explain unless you’ve had that experience. My case was like that, everything from my thyroid to my platelets crashed.”

Katherine Heigl

Whilst having an interview with People magazine, Katherine said, “The thing that really got me was the ingestion. You can ask my costars, I never stopped burping. And I felt terrible about it, but there was just nothing I could do- I would be in the middle of saying something and I’d just start burping. It was awful. I felt like a frat boy.”

Ellie Kemper

Even though Ellie said that her first pregnancy was a breeze, unfortunately, her second just wasn’t as easy. During an interview in 2018, Ellie said, “The first trimester was awful. I have a two-year-old now, and when I was pregnant with him, I was fine. First trimester this time, just terrible! Just tired and nauseous and all of it!”

Eva Longoria

“Everything’s uncomfortable. It’s not just your belly — everything gets bigger, I’ve never seen my thighs so big, and my boobs, they’re in the way of everything. It’s hard.”
