Have a Picnic

Picnics are the perfect way to enjoy a nice sunny day at the park or the beach without spending a lot of money. You may buy a few extra bits than you would usually have for lunch or dinner but other than that you need to eat anyway so why not make it fun with a day out to your favorite spot? You can all agree to take a few snacks and drinks and don’t forget games and a speaker to keep you entertained. 

Go Camping

If you want to extend your time outdoors without spending too much money you can try some wild camping. Look up camping spots that do not require payment, dig out your tent, and off you go. You will need to take food but you will need to eat wherever you are so there is no need to pay extra money.

Try Geocaching

As long as you have a smartphone you can enjoy a day of geocaching which offers a free fun day out. The premise of geocaching is that people hide treasure (there are over 3 million pieces hidden around the world which you need to fold via GPS. The treasure you find is logged and shared with fellow geocaching fans and left for someone else to find. While this seems like a trend for younger generations, it is actually great for the whole family to enjoy or if you have friends who are mixed ages.

Hold a Homemade Spa Day

A spa day is a great way to relax and enjoy downtime with your friend but they can be expensive. However, if you are short on cash and still want to reap the rewards of a facial and a massage you can enjoy a homemade spa day. Your friends can come together to give one another a massage and make homemade facials or you can all raid your bathroom to see what spa-like products you have at hand. With nice snacks and refreshments plus a relaxing playlist in the background, you will never know you are at home!

Visit Local Museums and Galleries

There are lots of free events happening in towns and cities across the country. Check out your local tour guide for free events and festivals that are held at local museums, galleries, and parks. You will not believe how much you can do in your hometown for a fee.

Taking a hike is such a great way to spend time with your friends in the great outdoors. Pick your favorite trail and pack lots of water then off you go. Not only will you have a fun day out for free you will get in your steps for the day and benefit from the healing power of nature.

You may think that Zoom parties are so 2020 but they still have a place for friends who live far away from one another and don’t have enough money to meet up in person. You may not want to head back to the days of online Covid quizzes but you can plan games and music where you and your friends can interact without the pressure of saving up money for gas and hotel stays. 

Be A Tourist for The Day

If there are no free events at museums and galleries in your local area you can be a tourist for the day and take a walking tour of your local area. When we are moving around between work and home as part of our usual routine we can forget to look up and see what is around us. You can ask your friends to pick three spots they think each other will like and take turns taking each other on an adventure around your hometown.

Volunteering is not just a free activity for you and your friends to do, it is something that gives back to your community. This rewarding day out can see you and your friends try something that you’re not done before and make lifelong friendships with other volunteers and organizations. 

Play a Game in The Park
