A father creates strain on his relationship with his son after he tells him that he deserved to have his girlfriend break up with him.
Long-Distance
For two years his son has had a long-distant girlfriend. The family thinks that she is a nice girl. With him and his wife loving her and welcoming her with open arms. She flew in constantly to visit him. With her visiting at least once a month. However, he never made attempts to visit her in return.
Traveling
He has tried to talk to his son several times. Telling him that he should start looking into flying over to her instead of expecting her to do all the traveling. He told his father no. He suspected his wife may have something to do with his behavior as she would constantly tell their son she was afraid of him flying.
Conditions
When he sat them both down to talk, he explained that this girl was great for him. His girlfriend was willing to move over to their country too. Except she had one condition. That was that he would have to fly over to her country too. Which he thought was fair enough.
Lazy
His son said no to this condition, claiming he didn’t want to fly or travel anywhere. He believed his son was becoming lazy as he eventually told his girlfriend and them that he was fine never traveling anywhere. This includes holidays and other special events.
Dumped
The news dropped that his girlfriend had dumped him. She wrote them an apology letter. Saying that she was upset that it didn’t work out between her and his son. They understood that these things happen, so they were still on good terms with her.
When stumbling across her Facebook page after receiving the letter. He saw that they were still friends. When looking at her posts it was revealed she was already with a new guy. Him and his wife both agreed that they have no doubt she was seeing this new guy whilst still in a relationship with their son.
Confession
He confessed to his wife and son that he agreed with her decision. Telling him that he should have expected it. As he did not treat her properly. He said that he hopes his son learns his lesson for when he has a new girlfriend. And that he needs to make more of an effort.
Deserved
The two got into an argument. Where he breaks it to his son that he deserves this for his lack of effort in their relationship. As his son had essentially allowed this girl to spend all of her money and time on her frequent visits. With him never doing the same for her.
Horrible
This created a strain on their relationship. With both his wife and son telling him that he is horrible for saying something so cruel. Most people reading expected his son to be somewhere in his teens however, his son was 24. The father does not feel sorry for what he said to his son. As he believes his son needed the rude awakening to allow him to grow.
