She became single after her divorce with Jesse James in 2010, at the same time, this is when she finalised her adoption of her son Louis. Five years later, she then adopted her daughter Laila. Sandra says, “I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time.”
Connie Britton
Connie adopted her son Yoby without a partner when she discovered that it was her personal heartache that led her to the conclusion. Connie said, “My parents passed away within three years of each other. Right after that, a lightbulb went off in my head and I thought, ‘What am I waiting for?’ I wasn’t in a relationship at the time, but I thought, ‘This is something I want to do. I can do it.”
Charlize Theron
Charlize doesn’t believe the term ‘single mom’ relates to her, even though she is a single parent to her son Jackson and daughter, August. In a funny turn of events, Charlize said that her dogs are her co-parents. “People keep saying, ‘You’re a single mom’, I go ‘Actually, I’m not. I got two boys helping me out.’” – Referring to her dogs.
Mindy Kaling
Kaling has kept the identity of her children’s father private, and she is content with being a single mom and taking full responsibility for her kids. She has stated that if someone comes into her life later on, it would be great, but it is not their responsibility to co-parent.
January Jones
It can be a scary thought having to raise children by yourself, but January was actually boasting that she was excited for the new venture of being a single mom to her son, Xander. “I knew I would be raising my son alone. It was something I went in to knowingly, I was prepared mentally – and I was excited about it.”

Kristen adopted her daughter Gemma in 2012 and stated that, even though she was terrified, she knew she wanted to do it. “It is terrifying, partly because with adoption you always know there’s a chance it won’t work.”

Minnie gave birth to her son in 2008 but decided to keep the identity of the father a secret until 2012. Even though the father knew about his son, Driver said that he “hasn’t been that involved.”
Katie Couric
Katie became a single mom to two girls when she lost her husband to a cancer battle in 1998. However, Couric did remarry, but she states that the worst part of being a single mom was that there was never a good cop to her bad cop.
Sofia Vergara
Sofia married her high school sweetheart and had a son, Manolo. However, this marriage didn’t work out and from the age of 2, her son had a single mother. Sofia said, “I raised him trying to set the best example and give him the best that I could. When people compliment me on him, on how well mannered, how charming, funny and well-behaved he is, it makes all the sacrifices worthwhile.”
Kate Moss
She might be known as stone cold, but in the eyes of her daughter, Lila Grace, she is just like every mom, “embarrassing and annoying. But I love her really.”
